Hours of Operation
The Counseling Center is open on school days from 7:15 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Counselors are available during the school day to meet with students and parents by appointment. The center is open during school vacations (but not national holidays or weekends or the Friday after Thanksgiving), when a counselor may be on duty.
method test prep now available to all GHS students
Are you interested in preparing for upcoming SATs, ACTs or PSATs? You can access an extensive on-line prep program through your NAVIANCE account. Log onto your NAVIANCE account and click on the top link on your home page - it reads "method test prep." Follow the instructions to "sign up." Once you have created your account, go to methodtestprep.com and click on member login. Use your login information to be on your way to having preparation at your fingertips!
Important information for seniors and parents of seniors
The Common Application for students applying to college in the fall of 2016 will become active on August 1. If you created your account prior to this date, your information will be available to "roll over" into the '16-'17 application. Log on to www.commonapp.org to get started. Click here for the essay prompts for '16-'17.
If you are only applying to SUNY schools, you might be interested in using the SUNY on-line application. Click here to get started.
For students planning to attend college in September of 2017 and thereafter, the FAFSA can now be completed as early as October 1. This is also the date that the CSS Profile becomes available. Please check with individual colleges for deadlines and for which forms need to be completed. The links to both forms will be posted here once the forms become available.
The Guilderland High School Senior Scholarship Committee chooses many recipients of awards given out at the Junior/Senior Awards evening program. If you would like to be considered for any of these awards, please complete the following and return it to your School Counselor no later than MAY 5, 2017. (Click here for PDF)
