Nov. 1 focus group event has been canceled; upcoming meetings set for Sept. 29 and Nov. 19

Originally posted Sept. 24, 2014; Updated October 10, 2014—At its meeting on September 23, 2014, the Guilderland Board of Education unanimously agreed to cancel the upcoming focus group community event scheduled for November 1. The cancellation comes on the heels of the Board’s decision to remove from discussion the six scenarios included in the Building Capacity Study report provided to the district by Dr. Paul Seversky last June. The scenarios were to be the main topic of the Nov. 1 event.

The district would like to sincerely thank all community members who submitted an application to be involved in the focus group activity. We appreciate your willingness to participate in the process and hope that you will join us for future meetings related to the building capacity study.

Looking ahead, on Monday, September 29 for a community meeting related to the district's recent building capacity study. Scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Guilderland High School LGI, this informational session will feature an overview of the study process to date. District leaders will discuss factors which led up to the study and will also take a closer look at some of the data presented in the final report. In addition, there will also be an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide feedback to district leaders during the event.

A second community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19. While details of the meeting format are still being finalized, the community will be invited to share ideas for addressing some of the challenges currently being faced by the district in relation to building capacity.
