Student information updates

On Friday, September 12, 2014, a letter was distributed to all parents via the district's SchoolTool Parent & Student Portal highlighting some important details regarding student information updates in the new school year. In particular, the letter addresses changes to how report cards and Individual Student Reports (ISRs) for grade 3-8 assessments will be available to parents as well as information about verifying and updating your child's health information. Fall Recycling Extravaganza set for
Oct. 25 at Farnsworth Middle School

Event will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both residents and non-residents of the school district are encouraged to bring their unwanted papers, metals, electronics, textiles, plastics (including bags), and bikes for free drop-off; all items will be re-used and/or recycled. District transitioning to paperless report cards in 2014-15

Beginning in the 2014-15 school year, Guilderland Central School District will be transitioning to a paperless report card system for all students, grades K-12. Report cards will no longer be sent or mailed home; instead, parents will be able to access and review their child’s report card online via the district’s SchoolTool Parent and Student Portal. Building Capacity Study update

At its meeting on August 19, the Guilderland Board of Education voted 7-2 to remove from discussion the six scenarios included in the Building Capacity Study report provided to the district by Dr. Paul Seversky last June. Under the motion approved by the board, the data provided in Dr. Seversky's report will remain a topic of discussion for district leaders and the community in the days ahead. In light of this board action, the district is currently reevaluating the content and delivery of scheduled public meetings related to the Building Capacity Study. Additional information will be posted to the website as it becomes available.

GCSD awarded three grants

The Guilderland Central School District is pleased to announce that it has been awarded three grants this month to help improve student assessment practices, records management, and student participation in the preservation of the Pine Bush. Learn more

Important immunization changes
for students entering grades K-6

The NYS Department of Health and NYS Education Department recently issued immunization requirement changes starting with the 2014-2015 school year. A letter will be sent home to all parents of students in grades K-6 on April 22 explaining these changes. Parents can also read the letter here (PDF).

District to release APPR scores by request

All GCSD parents or legal guardians have the right to request Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) quality ratings and composite effectiveness scores for their child's current year's teacher(s) and principal(s). Learn more and download a request form
