The following message was sent to families from Superintendent Dr. Wiles on Dec. 15:
Dear GCSD Families,
I’m writing to give you a few updates. Today we needed to make the difficult decision to have students in grades 8-12 remain with all-remote learning through the holiday break. They will return to their hybrid schedule on Monday, Jan. 4. The reason for continuing remote instruction is the number of faculty and staff who are currently under quarantine; we simply can not provide sufficient supervision at Guilderland High School for in-person learning.
Today we also learned about an individual of the Guilderland High School community who tested positive for COVID-19. Under the guidance of the Albany County Department of Health, we were able to determine that no contact tracing of individuals from the school community is necessary.
Also, please disregard an email sent earlier today regarding parental consent for COVID-19 testing at GCSD schools. The email was intended for faculty and staff and was sent in error. We apologize for any confusion.
Sincerely,
Dr. Marie Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
