Please see an important message from Superintendent Wiles:
Dear GCSD Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you and your children are enjoying this time together. I’m sorry to have to share this information, especially now, but I want to update you on nine new positive COVID-19 cases we learned about between Tuesday, Dec. 22, and today. Below is a list of each new case. Please note that three cases, per the Albany County Department of Health guidelines, required contact tracing of school community members.
- Two cases associated with individuals of Pine Bush Elementary. One case did not require contact tracing by the school because the individual was not on campus while infectious. The district followed ACDOH guidelines and contacted those individuals who were required to quarantine as a result of the second case.
- Three cases associated with individuals of Guilderland High School. The district contacted those individuals who were required to quarantine as a result of one of the cases. No contact tracing by the school was necessary for the other two cases because the individuals were not on campus while they were infectious.
- Two cases associated with individuals at Lynnwood Elementary School. One case did not require contact tracing by the school because the individual was not on campus while infectious. The district followed ACDOH guidelines and contacted those individuals who were required to quarantine as a result of the second case.
- Two cases associated with Farnsworth Middle School. No contact tracing by the school was needed because the individuals were not on campus while infectious.
If we learn of more cases for the remainder of the break, we will send an update on Jan. 4. If contact tracing is required as a result of any new cases, we will contact those individuals directly. Also, if there is significant news or a development that requires action, we will send an email, phone call, or text as needed.
While on the holiday recess, schools are not able to report new cases to the NYS COVID-19 Dashboard. The district website has been updated to report new cases today. We will return to a regular schedule of notifications when school is back in session.
