A message from Superintendent Wiles
Dear Guilderland CSD Families,
Due to the increase in positive COVID-19 cases, we will now report positive COVID-19 case numbers twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. On a related note, I urge you to please remind your students to follow healthy hygiene practices. This includes staying home when feeling sick, proper hand hygiene and wearing well-fitting masks, over noses and mouths at all times, except when eating and drinking. These small steps can do a lot to control the spread of infection.
COVID-19 follow-up vaccination clinic
The Albany County Department of Health is holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Sand Creek Middle School, Thursday, Jan. 6, 4:30-7 p.m. At this clinic pediatric second doses and boosters will be administered. Registration is strongly encouraged as there are a limited number of appointments available.
COVID-19 cases for Dec. 30-Jan. 4
The information below details the number of new COVID-19 positive cases for Dec. 30-Jan. 4. Because of the break it is very difficult to verify the numbers of close contacts. Rather than share information that is not accurate, we are only reporting numbers of cases by building at this time.
Altamont Elementary School: 8 new cases
Guilderland Elementary School: 5 new cases
Lynnwood Elementary School: 14 new cases
Pine Bush Elementary School: 15 new cases
Westmere Elementary School: 10 new cases
Farnsworth Middle School: 38* new cases
Guilderland High School: 40* new cases
*one case is shared between two buildings
Please watch for an email in the coming days with information about a new measure GCSD will be implementing that will assist in our objective of keeping students learning in-person.
As always, thank you for your continued patience and support.
Sincerely,
Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
