A message from Superintendent Wiles:
Dear Guilderland CSD Families,
This week several communications went out to Guilderland Central School District families regarding COVID-19-related protocols and guidelines. We understand this information is rapidly changing and, at times, can be overwhelming and confusing. Late last night the district received new, additional guidance from the New York State Department of Health. This will be communicated to GCSD families in the coming days, once it has been properly studied and understood.
GCSD COVID-19 testing location closed Monday, Jan. 17
Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the GCSD testing location will not be open Monday, Jan. 17. The testing location will resume regular operation on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Here’s more information on the GCSD COVID-19 testing program.
COVID-19 cases for Jan. 11-Jan. 14
The information below details the number of new COVID-19 positive cases for Jan. 11-Jan 14. Because of the overwhelming number of positive cases, it is very difficult to verify the numbers of close contacts. Rather than share information that is not accurate, we are only reporting numbers of cases by building at this time.
Altamont Elementary School: 7 new cases
Guilderland Elementary School: 12 new cases
Lynnwood Elementary School: 7 new cases
Pine Bush Elementary School: 12 new cases
Westmere Elementary School: 19 new cases
Farnsworth Middle School: 20 new cases
Guilderland High School: 43 new cases
Monday, Jan. 17 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day
There is no school on Monday, Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. An advocate for civil rights, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped set the tone of the movement with his renowned “I Have A Dream” speech in 1963. Designated to mark Dr. King’s life and legacy, MLK Day has become an official day of service and volunteerism to empower individuals and strengthen communities, to move us closer to Dr. King’s vision.
As this year progresses, we undoubtedly will face additional challenges and uncertainties that will require flexibility and patience. We are dedicated to working diligently to respond to these challenges. As always I appreciate your continued support. Have a wonderful long weekend.
Sincerely,
Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
