Alice M and John U named Dutchmen of the Week for the week of September 9

Congratulations to Alice McCann (Varsity Golf) and John Uzzilia (Varsity Volleyball) for earning DOW (Dutchmen of the Week) honors for the week of September 9.

Alice McCann (Varsity Golf)

Alice has been on the varsity golf team since the 7th grade. The progress and improvement in her game has been impressive. At the end of last season, Alice had a 65 average and was an exhibition player. Currently, she has a 48.4 average and is our #2 golfer on the team. Last week at our match against Shaker, Alice was co-medalist alongside senior and #1 player on the team, Jane Fanning, both shooting a 44. Alice also qualified individually for Sectionals after only five matches! She has become a leader on the team not only by her strong play but by the example she sets with her hard work and perseverance. Congrats, Alice!

As one of our captains, Johnny took his game to a new level this week, setting his teammates up with 78 assists, good for a staggering 32% assist percentage. He produced from the service line with 3 aces, his defense flashed as well recording 20 digs and a block, and he led our offense to a solid 60.4% Side out percentage on the week en-route to an exhilarating 5 set win over Niskayuna and taking a set from a favored Shaker team. Earlier this week, Johnny recorded his 1,000th career assist in a 3 set victory over CBA.
