Ms. Cochrane joined the district in Sept. 2023 as a GHS mathematics teacher and girls varsity soccer coach. Prior to joining the Guilderland Central School District, Ms. Cochrane was a mathematics teacher at Catholic Central High School and a girls varsity associate head coach at Bethlehem High School.

A dedicated educator, Ms. Cochrane approached teaching with unwavering commitment. Despite battling illness, her exceptional strength and dedication to her students motivated her to continue teaching with remarkable energy, exuberance and enthusiasm, even on challenging days.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Christine Cochrane,” said GHS Principal Michael Piscitelli. “Though her time with us was brief, her impact was profound. She touched the lives of students, colleagues and the entire GHS community in ways that will not be forgotten.”

As head coach, Ms. Cochrane led the GHS girls varsity soccer team for two seasons. This past season, she guided the team to the Class AAA Section 2 semifinals. “Christine was tough and resilient, finding the courage to be on the sideline for her team,” said Athletic Director David Austin. “She did both her jobs as teacher and coach well. I will forever be grateful for her work with our girls soccer program.”

As always, we wish to support our students, faculty and staff, especially during this difficult time. GHS counselors, school psychologists and social workers are available to provide support to students and staff who might need assistance.

Please join the Guilderland school community in keeping Ms. Cochrane’s family in our thoughts.
