A message from Dr. Wiles:
Dear GCSD Families,
Very soon Guilderland Central School District students will return to school, filling our buildings with energy, excitement and activity. In preparation for the start of the 2024-25 academic year, we have some updates to share.
Earlier today a message was sent to families about the release dates of placement, scheduling and other information for 2024-25. Once released, you will be able to find this information on the parent and student portals.
In mid-August, print GCSD calendars will be mailed to all families. This calendar packet will contain details about a new secure online student meal payment system the district is implementing for the start of the school year.
GCSD will begin using Stopfinder for transportation information
The district will be utilizing Stopfinder, an all-in-one, easy-to-use mobile app which allows families to view real time transportation information, including schedules, announcements and more. In the coming weeks GCSD families will receive an account activation email from Stopfinder; learn more about this new app on the district website.
Photo opt out forms
GCSD staff often photograph and film students at school events and activities for promotional purposes. This information is sometimes posted on the district website and/or featured on GCSD social media channels including Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Confidential information is never shared. Families who object to the release of their child’s information and/or photograph should notify both their child’s building principal and the district’s communications office by September 15. Please visit the district website here for more details and to download and print the photo opt-out form.
I look forward to welcoming students back on the first day of school, Thursday, September 5. Until then, I hope all GCSD families enjoy the remaining days of summer break.
Sincerely,
Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
