Feb. 14 update: proposed $57M capital project; musical productions of Beauty and the Beast Jr. and My Favorite Year; winter recess

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

Earlier this week, at the Feb. 11 meeting of the Guilderland Central School District board of education, I presented the details of a $57 million proposal for capital improvements to the district’s facilities. The proposal is the result of a year-long effort by the district’s Future Ready Task Force and Facilities Committee.

An objective of the proposed capital project is to begin the multi-year process of transforming GCSD facilities into future-ready learning environments, to work towards fulfilling the district’s mission and vision, which is for all students — each and every one — to be future-ready.

With improvements for all seven school buildings, the plan proposes enhancements and upgrades to safety, sitework, infrastructure, instructional technology, classrooms and specialized instructional spaces, including performing arts, technology labs and the library media center.

Should the board move ahead with this proposal, a referendum would go before Guilderland voters for approval on budget vote day, May 20. Please look for much more communication about this proposed capital improvement project in the coming months.
