Dear GCSD Families,
In the last 48 hours, many Guilderland families, faculty and staff members received emails or phone calls from the Albany County Department of Health with guidance and direction about steps they need to take regarding possible exposure to COVID-19. The vast majority of that direction is precautionary but clearly serious. If you haven’t done so yet, I encourage you to check your email, including your Spam Folder, to see if you have received any notice from the health department.
While our schools are closed, there is a small team of individuals working out of the district office to continue to serve our school community. The office is closed to visitors, but you may call there with your school-related questions and concerns.
In the meantime, here are a few reminders:
- Beginning tomorrow, Monday, March 16, grab and go lunch and breakfast will be available for pick up at FMS and GHS. See the district website for details.
- We are working on a plan for our music students who left instruments at school to retrieve them.
- The resources to keep children engaged in learning opportunities while school is closed are forthcoming.
- Spectrum is offering free high-speed internet service and Wi-Fi to households with students. Families can call (844) 488-8395 to enroll. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
During times like these, we need to work together, even as we are asked to keep our distance from one another. We truly appreciate the many community partners and individuals who have offered to assist our school community as we work through this new and evolving scenario.
