Over the weekend and today the district learned of nine new confirmed COVID-19 cases. There are seven cases associated with Guilderland High School and two at Farnsworth Middle School. Two of the confirmed cases, one at GHS and one at FMS, required contact tracing by the school. That work was done following Albany County Department of Health guidelines. All of the individuals have been contacted and the Department of Health should be following up with them.
As a reminder, some of our students are on remote instruction. Here is a list of those students who are on fully remote instruction through Friday, Jan. 29:
- Grades 8-12 at Guilderland High School
- Mohawk 6C at Farnsworth Middle School
- Grades K-4 at Pine Bush Elementary School
At Guilderland High School, students in self-contained classrooms, or who participate in Alt Ed and CTE will continue to attend their programs in-person.
Lynnwood Elementary School Emergency Closure Today
Lynnwood Elementary School was closed today due to a water main break. Crews are continuing to work on repairing the main this evening. Grade K-4 Lynnwood staff and families should listen for an announcement tomorrow about the status of the school building for Tuesday, Jan. 26. The announcement will be made by email, text, and phone by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow indicating whether the building will be open or remain closed. Grade 5 Lynnwood staff and students should report to FMS. Our thanks to those working outside in the cold tonight to make the necessary repairs.
Thank you for your continued efforts to follow all of the necessary health and safety protocols both in school and out of school. We are looking forward to better days ahead!
Sincerely,
Marie Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
