A message from Dr. Wiles:
Dear Guilderland CSD Families,
Today marks the end of the second quarter as well as the halfway point of the school year. While this school year has presented many challenges, it has also provided much normalcy for GCSD students. They are competing, creating, singing, performing and, most importantly, learning in person. When I look back to where we were a year ago, I know the mitigation measures and protocols GCSD has in place now are working to keep our students and staff safe, healthy and in classrooms.
Mask mandate remains in effect while court proceedings continue
Earlier this week, an appellate state court issued a stay order which upheld the Department of Health’s mask requirement in schools (10 NYCRR 2.60). Although the court set a hearing deadline for today, the State Education Department has confirmed that this deadline pertained only to written submissions. SED anticipates that the court will issue a further ruling in the coming weeks. Until such time, the mask rule remains in effect. All staff, students and school visitors continue to be required to wear a mask or face covering while in our schools.
