Today, the district learned of four new COVID-19 cases connected to Guilderland High School; two of these cases were determined during today’s surveillance testing of GHS students. One case required contact tracing at the school per Albany County Department of Health guidelines, and those individuals have been notified.
Because the high school was remote all this week, we decided to test consenting GHS students today in an attempt to avoid disruptions and quarantines for students next week. Thanks to all of our families who brought their students to school today to participate in our modified “drive-through” testing site. We want to recognize our amazing team of nurses, support staff and our athletic trainer who worked today as a well-oiled machine to administer 323 tests. We will report district-wide surveillance testing data on Monday.
Additional Updates and Reminders
The Second Semester Begins on Monday
On Monday, our second semester begins. We are welcoming 215 students back to our buildings for in-person and hybrid learning; 62 students will be transitioning to fully remote for the balance of the year. Regardless of which setting your family chose, our faculty and staff will do their very best to make your child(ren)’s learning experience meaningful and enjoyable.
Next week all of our buildings will be open for in-person/hybrid instruction. Three sections of Kindergarten at Guilderland Elementary School will continue to be fully remote through the week due to staffing shortages. We are hopeful that we can continue to keep our buildings open; we truly appreciate all those who do their part to follow our health and safety protocols both in and out of school.
