June 26 update: end-of-year celebrations; Class of 2024 graduation

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

Today officially closes out the 2023-24 school year for the Guilderland Central School District! Over the past few days I’ve had the pleasure of attending several moving up ceremonies as well as the Guilderland High School Class of 2024 graduation. They have been wonderful celebrations that have reflected the personality of our students. Complete with beautiful music, inspiring words, joy and excitement, these ceremonies are a testament to the hard work, perseverance and commitment of GCSD students and staff. It’s a joy to see students’ smiling faces, beaming with pride as their accomplishments are acknowledged.

Poignant and uplifting, today’s graduation ceremony sent the senior class off with messages of encouragement, acceptance and strength. You can view the commencement of the Class of 2024 on the GHS Media YouTube channel; please watch the Guilderland Central School District social media pages in the coming days for photos from the ceremony.

Thank you to all who took part in the culture and climate survey

Recently GCSD conducted a culture and climate survey; thank you to all who took the time to participate! A positive climate plays a pivotal role in shaping the experiences of everyone within the school community. Your input is integral to ensure that our schools, and the district as a whole, continue to provide a supportive environment for all. The next step for the district is to compile the results, which will be shared with each of the seven buildings’ Equity Action Teams. They will review the data this summer, pinpoint specific strengths and areas of concern and use the data to further develop and refine their action plans. Learn more about how the district will use the culture and climate survey results here.

FMS Butterfly Station

A wonderful attraction to visit this summer is the Farnsworth Middle School Butterfly Station. Opening on July 11, this student-run, educational program is marking its 25th year. Please consider visiting, especially for the butterfly release on Aug. 9. Visit the district website for information about hours of operation.

Thank you to all of the students, families and staff of the Guilderland Central School District; the contributions of our school community have made the 2023-24 academic year a successful, positive and rewarding experience for all.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable summer with the opportunity to rest and recharge!

Sincerely,

Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
