Lynnwood Elementary School Library

Staff

Mrs. Julia Healy, School Librarian

Welcome to Lynnwood Library Homepage

All students at Lynnwood have the opportunity to use our library on a regular basis: library classes, independent research, technology instruction, book choice, instruction with classroom teachers, small group work and special presentations.

We are so lucky to have wonderful parent volunteers in our library each week.  Parent volunteers help shelve books, keep the library neat, help students find materials, and make our library a better place for all!  Thank you!

Library hours:

Monday – Friday 7:40 a.m to 3:25 p.m.

Mission Statement

The mission of the library is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

To accomplish this, we will:

  • Provide instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
  • Work with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual learners.

Library Policies:

Circulation Guidelines

Kindergarten students may check out two books at a time.  The loan period for their books is two weeks, although many kindergarteners return their books (and get new ones!) each week when their class comes to the library.  Kindergarteners are also encouraged to use the library during Choice Time to choose new books.

First through fifth grade students may check out up to five books at a time.  The loan period for their books is two weeks.  Students are encouraged to use the library any time they need to and may return and check out at any point during the week.

Lost or Damaged Books

Students are taught to take good care of library materials when using them and carrying them in their backpacks. Books should be kept away from food, drinks, pets. It is helpful when students establish a safe place to store library materials when at home. Accidents do happen, however, and damaged or lost books must be paid or replaced.  Thank you for helping to keep our library full of great books!
