COVID-19 cases for the week of May 24
This week there are two new positive cases of COVID-19. Both cases were at Guilderland High School and required contact tracing. The building principal worked under the guidance of the Albany County Department of Health to determine who needed to quarantine and have contacted those individuals.
Updated guidance from Albany County Dept. of Health
The Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) has updated its guidance regarding asymptomatic individuals who live in a household with someone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and are awaiting results of a COVID diagnostic test. No longer will asymptomatic students or staff be excluded from school or work if they live with someone who is symptomatic pending COVID test results. This includes siblings of students who are symptomatic and awaiting test results. These asymptomatic siblings will no longer be excluded from attending in-person classes, per the ACDOH guidance received Friday, May 21.
As a result of this updated guidance, the district’s COVID screening tracker has been updated. Please continue to fill out the COVID screening every day.
It is important to be aware that if an active outbreak or cluster does occur within the school setting or it is deemed that the symptomatic student or family member(s) could potentially be associated with an outbreak of COVID-19, the district could reinstate this practice as needed to maintain health and safety in the school community.
Monday, May 31, is Memorial Day
District offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day and will reopen Tuesday, June 1. Have a happy and safe holiday weekend!
