As of August 1, 2023, ParentSquare replaced SchoolMessenger as a way to receive communications from the Guilderland Central School District and its schools. A safe and secure platform, it’s designed to keep the GCSD community connected through direct, two-way, school-to-home communication. ParentSquare offers a mobile app for easy access; while it’s not necessary to download the app to stay connected through ParentSquare, it does offer the most convenience and accessibility.
Families who have been receiving communications through SchoolMessenger should activate their ParentSquare account by registering, downloading the app and logging into the platform. Please use the email associated with your child in eSchoolData. For more information, view this video.
Why the change?
A “one stop shop” for all district communication needs, ParentSquare provides district administrators, teachers, staff and families a safe and secure way to:
- Send and receive school and class information, in a preferred language
- Share pictures and files, including being able to securely receive report cards, IEPs and other important student documents
- View district and classroom calendars
- RSVP to events
- Schedule parent-teacher conferences
ParentSquare offers two-way translation in over 100 languages
With extensive language translation options, ParentSquare will offer GCSD families the option of receiving messages in a preferred language, making communications more accessible to all. By giving families control of the language in which they receive and respond to communications, ParentSquare will help eliminate language barriers between school and families and facilitate equitable dissemination of important information.
