    Tawasentha 6E

    Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Tawasentha 6E Team and Farnsworth Middle School! We look forward to working with your child and meeting them during the Tawasentha Orientation Day on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

We understand the transition to middle school comes with a set of unique challenges, both academically and socially. We value and focus on the importance of life lessons and the social emotional health of our students. We look forward to building relationships with our incoming 6th grade students while providing learning environments that are positive, safe and engaging. We look forward to working with you and your family throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us as they arise.

The year our team consists of the following teachers:

During the summer, we expect our incoming 6th graders to read, read, read! We are requiring that students read at least one book and be prepared to do an assignment during the first full week of school, the week of September 9. Please do not write a summary of the book prior to school. Remember, it is not too late to complete a book. Please refer to the recommended reading list, HERE, for suggestions on amazing books.

Parents, we would also like you to email a letter telling us about your child. We are interested in hearing about his/her strengths as a learner, special interests, and accomplishments, from the people who know our incoming students the best. Please also include any questions or concerns you may have. This will help us meet the needs of each of our students and would be greatly appreciated! We ask to have these letters by Wednesday, August 31, so we are able to review them prior to meeting students during Orientation.

Please take a moment to sign up for our contact list HERE by filling out the Google Form and sign up for ParentSquare. Additionally, please be sure to log-in to eSchoolData to make sure that your contact information is accurate.

In a separate document, we have created a supply list for your Core classes. Please label all binders and notebooks in BLACK Sharpie with your student’s name and homeroom number.

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year with your child. We look forward to “meeting” you on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the 6th Grade Parent Open House. More information will follow.

    Tawasentha 7C

    Dear Tawasentha 7 Families,

Welcome to Tawasentha 7C! We are looking forward to meeting all of you and having a wonderful year! So that your student is prepared for the first day of school, we have compiled a list of materials your student will need. If you need assistance, please reach out to the House Office or to one of the team teachers listed below.

Please make sure that all of your student’s supplies, such as folders, highlighters, etc., are clearly labeled with their name. If your student has any of the supplies listed left-over from previous years, those are fine to use. Students will need two combination locks. PLEASE have students practice opening and have the combination memorized BEFORE the start of school.

All returning 7th grade students were provided a Chromebook at the start of the previous school year. These students are expected to bring back the Chromebook they were assigned last fall, which was brought home over the summer. Please make sure it is charged!

Tawasentha 7C Team Letter and Supply List

    Tawasentha 8

    Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

We are so excited to welcome you to eighth-grade Tawasentha this year.

Eighth grade brings a lot of challenges and added responsibilities, as we work towards your (exciting!) transition to the high school. We, your team teachers, are open-minded and flexible above all; we know you will have a lot going on, and we will be here to guide you. Our job is to work together to keep in mind and account for all of these varying circumstances while still providing you with the most consistent, inclusive, supportive – and, yes, challenging – academic environment possible. We want you to feel comfortable, and at the same time, we want you to know that we have lofty standards for you. You’ll meet them. We know it.

As a team, we value communication–communication amongst one another, as well as communication between home and school. First, eSchool. That will be your single greatest resource regarding class assignments, including missing work. (Please take a moment to log into eSchoolData to make sure that all of your contact information is up to date and accurate). We also utilize individual Google Classrooms, a whole-team Google Classroom, and ParentSquare.

We do not, however, allow students to use cell phones at any point during the day; they may leave them in bins with their homeroom teacher, or they may store them in their lockers, but we do not accept usage of these devices. Students are encouraged to visit the house office to use the phone (and will be allowed to do so) if they need to contact home for any reason during the school day. While this may be an adjustment for some students, we have found that removing cellular devices encourages students to be more present with their peers and more engaged in class.

We are eager to meet you and are looking forward to everything this school year will bring!

    Sincerely your team teachers,

    Mr. Chiesa
    Mr. Hanson
    Mrs. Pachucki
    Mrs. Reed
    Ms. Kelly

    Student Lockers and Locks

    • FMS Students will be assigned two lockers: a hallway locker near their homeroom and one for physical education. Students will need to bring in two combination locks*:
