Congratulations to Taylor Yund (JV Girls Volleyball) and Finn Burke (Boys Varsity XC) for earning DOW (Dutchmen of the Week) honors for the week of September 27.
Taylor is one of only four returning junior varsity players. The younger players truly look up to her for her leadership. Taylor has really embraced the role of a leader and has brought this team together. Her leadership on and off the court is one of the reasons we have been able to be successful, especially in beating Shenendehowa in the quarterfinals of the Shen Fall Fest Tournament. She helped lead our team to another victory against Albany with 15 service points, 5 kills and stellar defensive play. Taylor is a huge asset for the girls volleyball program!
Finn Burke, captain of the boys GHS varsity cross country team, is a relentless competitor. At the Ocean State Invitational, Finn came in 2nd out of a field of 158 varsity runners, with an impressive time of 16:31. Recently, Finn came in 1st at the 50th Guilderland Invitational with a time of 15:28, placing him 7th on the Guilderland All-Time list for the home varsity course at Tawasentha. In addition to his outstanding performances, Finn has been a leader on the team and demonstrates deep knowledge and passion for our sport.
